SRO Motorsports GROUP is hiring:

PRESS OFFICER, Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe Powered by AWS

Salary:
Commensurate to experience
Reporting to: Head of Communications
Closing date: 12:00 GMT November 20 (process could end earlier if enough suitable candidates apply)

Are you a motorsport press officer or media professional eager to play a leading role with one of the world’s foremost championships and events? Well, this could be the opportunity you’ve been looking for…

The global architect of GT racing, SRO Motorsports Group, is seeking a press officer to manage media and communications for its flagship series: Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe Powered by AWS.

Reporting to and working closely with SRO’s Head of Communications, the successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the championship’s media strategy, output and organisation, as well as running the press office at the world’s biggest GT3 race: the CrowdStrike 24 Hours of Spa.

This full-time position, which is predominantly based at SRO’s London office, also requires the candidate to contribute towards several more of the promoter’s series when time allows.

The press officer will attend 2024’s ten Fanatec GT Europe rounds, pre-season and Spa test days, and potentially travel further afield with other SRO championships as and when required. This inevitably involves working weekends and some public holidays, as well as long hours on occasion.

In return, SRO will trust you to shape and manage the public face of the world’s biggest GT championship and GT3 event. You’ll combine a passion for motorsport with a personable, modern approach to PR and communications that with the existing media team’s support can further elevate the promoter’s halo series.

Responsibilities include but are not necessarily limited to:

Overall

  • Responsibility for all media output and management before, during and after each Fanatec GT Europe event.
  • Regular liaison with the championship’s management, SRO’s Head of Communications and design team, as well as the media.
  • Media staff management (assistant, writer, photographers and videographers, as well as SRO support series press officers).
  • Working alongside the Head of Communications to compile budgets and help with other SRO series. Indeed, the role involves regular collaboration across SRO’s wide range of championships.

Content

  • Shaping the championship’s social media persona via engaging written, photo, video and graphical content. You will be supported by SRO’s design team and videographer.
  • Working closely with the media writer to define and approve all written communications (official announcements, news, previews, race reports etc). Some copywriting will also be required.
  • Updating the championship’s website (news, event info, driver profiles, points etc) and social media platforms.

Event specifics

  • Defining and implementing each event’s content, videography and photography briefs. This includes identifying and organising media opportunities and photo sessions.
  • Making SRO’s TV department aware of opportunities, information, statistics and story angles, as well as video content that could be useful to the live broadcast.
  • Working with SRO’s marketing team to facilitate partner requests.
  • Collaborating with teams, drivers and manufacturers to maximise opportunities.
  • Compiling regular post-event media reports.
  • Playing a leading role in crisis communication, should the need arise.

Media management

  • Overseeing full-season and race-by-race accreditation with the SRO media assistant’s support and providing media with specific event information in a timely fashion.
  • This will also involve working closely with each circuit’s local press officer.

Previous experience and personal competencies:

  • Minimum of five years PR and communications experience, which ideally includes specific press office management role(s).
  • Staff (full-time and freelance) and budget management.
  • Fluent spoken and written English. An understanding of French would also be useful.
  • An affable demeanour that sets the tone for a welcoming media environment.
  • A multitasking all-rounder who can turn their hand to the many requirements of a modern-day press officer. These include:
  • Impeccable copywriting ability.
  • Extensive practical knowledge of and best practice using multiple social media platforms.
  • Intermediate level (minimum) Photoshop and video editing software skills.
  • An eye for detail and a creative flair in graphic design creation.
  • The willingness and confidence to speak publicly and potentially in front of camera.

A knowledge of, passion for and previous experience working in motorsport are all highly preferable.
